Talk Time: Green River Community College/International Student Outreach
Have you ever wished that you could impact nations or do something that could be a part of changing history? Have you ever thought about being a missionary, but for whatever reason, you have never been able to do it? The opportunity is closer than you think.China right now is closed to missionaries. China, as well as many other Asian countries, is sending their brightest and best students to study and learn English at schools in the US, such as Green River Community College. Some day, whether they realize it or not, these young people will be the future leaders of their own countries. This is an incredible opportunity for us to influence these young people for Christ.
Green River Community College Talk Time is a place where International students can come and practice English and make friends. Christians from Family of Grace, Maple Valley Presbyterian, Mountain Vineyard, and many other churches take turns hosting discussions, games and snacks each Friday. We also take students on trips out into creation, as well as sharing meals and friendships. As part of friendship, we invite them to various activities, including church and spending times in the homes of Christians. Through ministries like Friday Night “Talk Time” and Christians inviting these students to church and into their homes, these kids are experiencing the LOVE of Christ through us.
You can join in by coming on Friday nights to talk with students and be their friends.
When: Fridays Nights from 7-9 pm
Where: Family of Grace Lutheran Church by Green River Community College
We also sponsor home-stay weekends, where students spend the night from Saturday morning to Sunday evening with your family. If you want to open your home up to a group of students for dinner, especially around the holidays, we can usually arrange that. The students are eager to make friends and are especially in need of transportation.
