Be the mountain.

Roy on Mt. Rainier

I’m studying “Global Transformational leadership” at Bakke Graduate University in Seattle. The Picture is me on top of Mount Rainer at 14400 feet. Perspective is a wonderful thing. I can see the curve of the earth from the top of a mountain. I can sense the glory of God and my humble place in the vast yet beautiful Creation. Reading great books can also lead me to new perspectives about how things really are in the world. Many of these books are written to help Christians find new perspective on the current condition of the church in the world and how we can find our in it. The books are biblically based though from a differing perspective such as Orthodox Alaska which is from a Russian Orthodox view. The reports are my highlights of what the book is about and how it could apply to our ministry if possible. As I read these books I am looking for anything I think could impact the church’s ministry in the twenty-first century. My challenge is to set forth my own response to the authors ideas. If you have comments about application to the Church it would be most helpful to make it known so others could also see and respond. Just click on “comment” at the end of each book report and write a few words. You do not need to belong or sign up for any thing. My hope is to develop a leaning community or cohort within our church, among my peers ,so we can all journey together in to what God is saying to us now in this time and how He may be calling us to new forms of life together as His People in the world. How can the church better apply itself to the culture we find ourselves in? How can we be His missional people? I have more questions than answers and perhaps we all should for now. Back to school!
